Many of my clients and students have requested a review of my unique method
of learning how to meditate. I have compiled this for your use and benefit.
I What is Meditation?
A. Meditation is a method to go within yourself
B. It is a period of contemplation, of self-examination
II How To Meditate
A. The two most important components of meditation are:
1. Finding a relaxed position
You may need to experiment with various positions; such as lying down,
sitting, on even lying on your side. . Once you find the most comfortable
position, stick with it.
2. Focus
Focus is simply concentrating on an object to help you filter out other
thoughts or energies.
You can achieve this in two ways:
a. Focus on a candle, crystal, or bowl of water
OR
b. With your eyes closed, use your third eye
to focus on an object. You could imagine a
golden staircase, a ladder, a color. Use whatever
helps to keep you focused.
Also, keep your palms facing upward and your feet or legs uncrossed. This is
necessary to be in a receiving mode.
Make sure you use a room where you can be undisturbed by phones, doorbells,
and people intruding on you. Remember, this is your personal relaxation time!!!
III. Benefits of Meditation
If you practice meditation daily, you can receive several or all of these results:
A. More relaxed
B. Inner peace
C. Reduce stress
D. Receive a heightened sense of awareness
E. Improve your intuitive/psychic abilities
F. Improve your health
IV. What Not To Expect From Meditation
There is a saying: “Expect nothing and receive everything in return.”
I must include this category for many of my students have become disappointed
from their meditations.
Why? Because some people expect fabulous messages or instant results. For
example, if you expect God to come down from a cloud with some prophetic
prediction, you will be disappointed.
If you ‘go with the flow’, with no pre-conceived expectations, you will achieve much
better results!
And there are no instant results. By meditating on a daily basis, over a period of
time, it will come naturally to you.
If your daily meditation consists of thinking about the day’s experiences, THAT is
your meditation.
If you fall asleep meditating, that is fine. If you see colors, hear sounds, or see
a friend or loved one that has passed over, that’s your meditation.
The less you expect, the less you judge, the less you cling to a pre-conceived
experience, the further you will progress. For meditation is giving up on models and labels.
The most important piece of guidance I can give you is this:
Because daily meditation is a form of altered consciousness, you will eventually coordinate
your conscious, unconscious and higher conscious mind so that it flows naturally into your
waking and sleeping life.
V. Other Uses of Meditation
As you become more adept and comfortable with meditating, you can ‘program” your mind to:
A. Conduct healing on someone, including you.
B. Receive an answer to an issue you are pondering on.
C. Remove old habits such as smoking, over eating.
D. Communicate with your spirit guides.
